The Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (“DGOJ”) has published on its website a prior public consultation on the modification of the Ministerial Orders that establish the basic regulation of the different online gambling modalities in Spain. With this consultation the DGOJ seeks to obtain the opinion of the interested parties already present in the Spanish market or of those who will be potentially present soon who will be affected by said future norm.
The norm will aim to collect and apply the appropriate modifications to adapt the basic regulations to the current and foreseeable context of the online gaming market, from a player protection point of view and in relation to the dynamization and innovation of the activity. The DGOJ states that, among other issues, (i) the expansion of responsible gambling measures is being evaluated; (ii) as well as rationalizing and systematizing the framework under which certain games whose regulatory framework is not currently satisfactory, such as the so-called daily fantasy sports, bets on virtual sports or live casino games other than roulette (as the latter is already contemplated in current regulation), will be marketed and (iii) simplifying certain requirements related to the mechanics and presentation of current games.
Contributions will have to be submitted before March 21, 2018.
